Our client National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) is looking for a WASH Specialist in Hyderabad
The WASH Specialist at National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) leads and manages the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects aimed at improving community infrastructure and public health. This role requires a highly skilled professional with a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline and at least ten years of relevant experience. The specialist coordinates and supervises engineering teams across multiple project districts to ensure that all WASH initiatives comply with technical standards, donor requirements, and local community needs. Through strategic planning, technical leadership, and proactive management, the WASH Specialist drives the effective and efficient delivery of project activities.
The position involves managing a team of 15 persons, encompassing supervision, guidance, and support to team members responsible for surveys, design, and execution of WASH projects. The specialist supports coordination efforts with donors and various stakeholders, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and timely submission of all program-related reports. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of WASH infrastructure, community engagement, hygiene promotion, and project management principles to enhance sustainability and impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall project implementation and management of WASH and community infrastructure activities within designated project districts.
- Manage and supervise an engineering team of 15, ensuring effective execution of WASH components aligned with project goals.
- Support the team lead in coordinating and maintaining effective communication with donors, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Provide technical leadership in planning, designing, and supervising WASH-related activities according to accepted engineering standards and community needs.
- Ensure water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and community engagement interventions meet all technical and donor-specific requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed work plans outlining project activities and milestones within the area of responsibility.
- Monitor project progress to ensure efficient implementation of planned activities, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Supervise survey, design, and district teams by setting clear targets and providing guidance to achieve project objectives effectively.
- Coordinate timely submission of all program reports, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with donor and contractual reporting requirements.
- Ensure all project activities comply with contractual terms, environmental regulations, and organizational policies.
- Identify risks and challenges within project implementation and propose mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate capacity building and skills development among team members to enhance performance and knowledge retention.
- Address any issues or concerns related to project execution promptly and escalate when necessary.
- Participate in periodic project reviews and evaluations to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Team Lead, Project Manager, or Regional General Manager relevant to project success.
