Java Developer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a

Java Developer

with 2–5 years of experience in Java web application development, maintenance, and support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing Java/JSP-based applications while contributing to their gradual modernization.

The role involves application support, troubleshooting production issues, developing new features, building RESTful APIs, working with relational databases, and supporting the migration of existing application functionality to modern technologies and an Angular-based frontend.

Job Responsibilities

• Java Application Development \& Support
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Java-based web applications.
• Provide day-to-day technical support for existing Java/JSP applications.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application bugs and production issues.
• Analyze application and system logs to identify root causes and implement appropriate fixes.
• Ensure application stability, performance, and reliability.
• Feature Development \& Enhancement
• Develop and implement new business requirements within existing Java applications.
• Modify and enhance existing application modules while maintaining compatibility with the current architecture.
• Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code following development standards and best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Prepare technical documentation for new features and enhancements.
• Application Modernization
• Contribute to the gradual modernization and technology uplift of existing Java applications.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs to expose existing business functionality to modern applications.
• Refactor legacy code and modules into reusable and maintainable components where feasible.
• Support the migration of existing business functionality to modern application architectures.
• Assist in reducing technical debt and improving the maintainability of existing applications.
• API \& Frontend Integration
• Collaborate with frontend developers working on Angular-based applications.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain backend APIs consumed by frontend applications.
• Ensure seamless integration between existing backend systems and modern frontend applications.
• Support phased application migration while minimizing disruption to existing users.
• Database \& System Integration
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Maintain data integrity and troubleshoot database-related application issues.
• Work with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Integrate applications with internal enterprise systems and third-party services.
• Ensure secure and efficient data exchange between integrated systems.
• Testing, Deployment \& Release Support
• Perform unit testing and support system and integration testing activities.
• Assist with application deployments, release management, and production support.
• Use Git or other version control systems for source code management.
• Participate in CI/CD and application deployment processes.
• Document bug fixes, application enhancements, and deployment activities.
• Collaboration \& Documentation
• Work closely with Business Analysts, QA Engineers, Product Owners, and other technical teams to understand and deliver business requirements.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, and other Agile activities.
• Maintain technical documentation, API documentation, and release notes.
• Communicate project progress, technical risks, dependencies, and challenges to relevant stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of

Core Java

.

• Hands-on experience with

Java EE, JSP, and Servlets

• Experience developing and maintaining

Java-based web applications

• Experience working with

legacy Java/JSP enterprise applications

• Good understanding of

RESTful API development and integration

• Strong understanding of

Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)

and software design principles.

• Experience with relational databases such as

MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with

• Ability to understand, debug, maintain, and refactor existing Java codebases.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with

Spring Boot

or similar Java frameworks.

• Knowledge of

HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

• Familiarity with

Angular

and modern frontend development.

• Experience developing backend APIs for Angular or other Single Page Applications (SPAs).
• Understanding of

CI/CD pipelines

and modern software deployment practices.

• Experience in

application modernization, technology migration, or legacy system transformation projects

Education

• Bachelor's degree in

Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology

, or a related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum:

2 years of relevant Java development experience.

• Preferred:

3–5 years of experience in Java web application development, maintenance, and support.

• Experience working with

Java/JSP-based enterprise applications

is highly preferred.

• Experience in

application modernization, REST API development, or legacy application migration

will be an added advantage.
