Our client NEXA is looking for a Accountant in Rawalpindi
A reputable UK-based accountancy firm is looking for an experienced Accountant/Senior Accountant to join its small accounts team in Rawalpindi.
The role involves preparing and filing year-end accounts for UK clients, including SMEs, limited companies, sole traders and partnerships, together with Self Assessment, corporation tax and VAT returns. Duties also include bookkeeping, maintaining accurate accounting records, dealing with UK client queries professionally, supporting UK compliance matters and assisting with general accountancy work as required. Previous UK accountancy practice experience is essential.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise a team of four accounting professionals, providing technical guidance and support.
- Review bookkeeping, VAT, accounts, and tax-related work for accuracy and compliance with UK accounting standards.
- Allocate client work effectively and monitor statutory deadlines to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain accurate nominal ledger records by posting invoices, bank transactions, journals, and adjustments.
- Complete bank and control account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with VAT rules and regulations.
- Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare and file Self Assessment and corporation tax returns accurately and within deadlines.
- Manage client portfolios, ensuring all compliance deadlines are met and financial information remains confidential.
- Utilize Xero and Microsoft Excel for accounts production, reporting, and analysis.
- Apply UK accounting standards, tax legislation, and VAT rules to all financial transactions and reports.
- Identify and resolve any accounting discrepancies or issues promptly and efficiently.
- Support ongoing improvements to internal accounting processes to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Work effectively under pressure, managing multiple deadlines to ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and legal regulations in all accounting activities.
