Senior Azure Platform Engineer

Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade Azure cloud environments for a leading organisation. This role focuses on enabling AI-driven applications through secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud platforms.

You will be responsible for building foundational cloud infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and integrating Azure AI services while ensuring strong governance, performance, and cost optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Azure landing zone architectures for enterprise-scale environments
• Build and manage Terraform-driven infrastructure to ensure consistency and reusability
• Integrate and operationalise Azure AI services (OpenAI, AI Search, related services)
• Manage API lifecycle and connectivity using Azure APIM and/or Kong
• Design secure and scalable network architectures (VNETs, Private Endpoints, Firewalls)
• Implement FinOps strategies to monitor and optimise cloud spend
• Establish monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks for performance and reliability
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) for infrastructure and applications
• Collaborate with application teams to support scalable AI and digital workloads

Required Skills \& Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Azure cloud engineering
• Strong hands-on expertise in Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Experience working with Azure AI services / OpenAI / AI Foundry
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking and security architecture
• Experience with API management platforms (APIM/Kong)
• Exposure to FinOps practices and cost optimisation strategies
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Strong problem-solving and system design capabilities
• Ability to work in complex, enterprise environments
