Our client is a well-established and growing organization with deep roots in Ontario's construction and development industry. Backed by a strong reputation for quality, integrity, and long-term success, the company is involved in a diverse portfolio of construction, infrastructure, and real estate development projects across the province.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team in Woodstock, Ontario. This is a fully office-based position offering flexibility in start and finish times, along with the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in supporting development and operating entities.

Your New Role

As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities, with a focus on real estate development and project-based accounting.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing month-end close activities, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements under ASPE.
  • Maintaining detailed accounting records for development, construction, and capital projects.
  • Tracking project costs, monitoring budgets, and supporting cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Assisting with construction financing, lender reporting, loan draws, and interest capitalization.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and variance analysis.
  • Preparing HST filings, payroll remittances, WSIB, EHT, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with year-end audit preparation and working closely with external auditors and advisors.
  • Maintaining fixed asset schedules and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting capabilities, and financial controls.
  • Partnering with operational and development teams to provide meaningful financial insights and support decision-making.

What You'll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong full-cycle accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience in real estate development, construction, land development, or project-based accounting environments.
  • Knowledge of development cost tracking, capitalization, and project accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing financial statements under ASPE.
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to perform reconciliations, analysis, and financial modelling.
  • Experience supporting audits and working with external accounting advisors.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • A professional, hands-on approach with exceptional attention to detail and accountability.
