We are looking for smart, kind and goal\-oriented people to join our team who have a passion for their work and the desire to make an impact—in their careers, in the community, and in the world.  **THE ROLE** Senior Accountant Reports to: Controller Compensation: $95\-105k annually Location: San Francisco Bay Area Hybrid (Mostly fully remote \+ In\-office a few times per year) Exempt, full\-time **THE OPPORTUNITY** We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Accounting \& Finance team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the integrity of our financial operations, supporting everything from month\-end close and inventory accounting to sales tax compliance and financial reporting. You'll work closely with our Controller and cross\-functional teams including Operations, Purchasing, and Retail to ensure accurate and timely financial information that drives smart business decisions. This is a hybrid position, so it’s essential that the candidate demonstrates a high level of professionalism, accountability, and self discipline, along with a reliable and well equipped home office setup that supports consistent productivity and effective communication (we will provide technology to support this). If you're someone who loves digging into the numbers, improving processes, and growing with a brand you can feel good about, we’d love to hear from you. **THE RESPONSIBILITIES** **General Ledger \& Month\-End Close** * Own and execute the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reports reconciliation and account reconciliations with guidance from Controller. * Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger in accordance with GAAP. * Maintain and improve close checklists and supporting reports. **Inventory \& Cost of Goods** * Partner with Operations and Purchasing teams to track product costs, landed costs, and margin performance. * Manage inventory accounting across retail locations and warehouse facilities, including cycle counts, variance analysis, COGS reconciliation, and a strong working knowledge of FIFO and its impact on inventory valuation, cost flow assumptions, and financial reporting. * Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner. **Revenue \& Retail Accounting** * Reconcile daily POS (point\-of\-sale) transactions against bank deposits and GL entries across multiple retail locations. * Support revenue recognition processes for wholesale and e\-commerce channels. **Financial Reporting \& Analysis** * Prepare and distribute internal financial reports, including P\&L summaries. * Support the Controller/CFO in preparation of budgets, forecasts, and leadership reporting. * Identify variances and trends, providing clear explanations and actionable insights. **Audit \& Compliance** * Assist with year\-end audit prep, including preparing schedules and response to auditor requests. * Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards. * Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax and regulatory requirements. **Process Improvement** * Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows, systems, and reporting. * Support system upgrades/implementations as needed (ERP, POS, inventory management tools). **THE REQUIREMENTS** 3\+ years of senior accountant experience, with 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in F\&B, B2B sales * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field * 2\+ years of industry experience, ideally in a fast\-paced or high\-growth environment * Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting * Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP) * At least 2 years of hands\-on experience with Sage Intacct is required. * Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling) * Demonstrated experience with inventory accounting and multi\-location retail operations * Solid understanding of sales tax compliance, particularly in California * Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail * Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast\-paced environment **ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED** * CPA license or active CPA candidate * Experience with POS systems (e.g., Square, Bill.com, Bill spend \& Expense Shopify) * Familiarity with e\-commerce revenue accounting * Experience supporting an external audit process * Background in a high\-growth startup or mid\-size consumer brand **THE DETAILS** * This role is fully remote, with occasional travel to the SF Bay Area required (up to 3\-4x/year) Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 9am\-5pm * To enhance team collaboration, we are only accepting candidates who live and work in the Pacific or Mountain time zones of the United States of America at this time * We expect San Francisco Bay Area based team members to join us in office for (3\) days/week **THE BENEFITS** * Medical, dental and vision insurance * 401(k) * Generous paid time off including vacation, sick days and holidays * Hybrid work schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remotely per week (SF Bay Area employees) * Professional development and training opportunities * Gym/Healthclub monthly stipend * Product discounts * Partial reimbursement for cell phone and internet service provider charges **EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER** * David Rio is an equal opportunity employer.
