Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Alberta Kidney Care North (AKC-N) Home Peritoneal Dialysis multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the assessment of new patients, planning, educating and providing follow up care of the home dialysis patient. The Registered Nurse will develop, implement, revise and maintain a program designed to focus on teaching patients with chronic renal failure to perform dialysis replacement therapy at home including home peritoneal dialysis (HPD). This position is based at West Edmonton Kidney Care.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id\=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) years recent acute care is required. On-call work required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills. Ability to make sound clinical assessments and ability to communicate findings in a concise manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills essential. On-call work required.
Preferred Qualifications: BScN in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in community will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience in home peritoneal dialysis and adult education, Connect Care nephrology, and CNA Nephrology certification.
