About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist to join BRP's central Data \& Analytics team (DNA). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, startup-like environment within a successful global organization. As a Data Scientist at BRP, you will leverage your analytical expertise and business insight to identify high-impact opportunities, develop predictive models, and drive data-driven decision-making across the company. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, and various business stakeholders to translate complex business questions into well-defined analytical and machine learning problems. Your work will directly influence strategic initiatives and operational efficiencies, helping BRP unlock new growth opportunities and optimize existing processes. The role requires a blend of technical proficiency, business acumen, and innovative thinking to develop, validate, and deploy models that create genuine value for the organization. Staying ahead of the latest advancements in foundation models, large language models (LLMs), and agentic systems will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, ensuring BRP remains at the cutting edge of AI technology.
Qualifications
- MSc (preferred) or BSc in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience applying data science and machine learning to solve real-world business problems
- Proven track record of projects that have driven measurable business outcomes
- Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modeling, and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow)
- Experience with LLM APIs and tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or similar for prototyping and AI solutions
- Solid SQL skills and experience querying data warehouses (Snowflake experience is a plus)
- Familiarity with end-to-end ML platforms such as Dataiku, Databricks, Vertex AI, or SageMaker
- Understanding of ML fundamentals including model evaluation, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning, bias-variance tradeoffs, and MLOps principles
- Experience building LLM-powered applications using prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or fine-tuning approaches (preferred)
- Knowledge of AI agent frameworks and orchestration tools like LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI
- Experience with model explainability techniques (SHAP, LIME) and bias/fairness assessment in production environments
- Understanding of the full MLOps lifecycle including model monitoring, drift detection, and retraining strategies
- Open-source contributions or publications in data science or AI (a plus)
- Experience mentoring junior data scientists or leading analytical initiatives (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities and translate business questions into analytical and machine learning problems
- Design, develop, and validate machine learning models and statistical analyses, ensuring clarity in success metrics, validity, fairness, and interpretability
- Plan and execute rigorous A/B testing, experiments, and causal inference studies to validate model performance and measure real business impact
- Communicate complex analytical findings to non-technical audiences through compelling data storytelling, enabling data-driven decision-making
- Stay informed about the latest developments in foundation models, large language models, and agentic systems; evaluate their relevance and champion adoption where appropriate
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable AI solutions and ensure seamless integration into existing processes
- Maintain and improve existing models, monitor their performance, and implement retraining strategies as needed
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data science and AI within the organization
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
